Tancredo Rips DHS Spying for Mexico

Tancredo press release, courtesy of Minuteman Blog Central:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressmen Tom Tancredo (R-CO) decried a recently-disclosed U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) practice of tipping off the Mexican military to the location of Minutemen volunteers. According to a story in this morning's Inland Daily Bulletin, CBP notifies the Mexican government of when and where the Minutemen are planning to monitor the border and if violence is used by the Minutemen against illegal aliens. There has not been one verified instance of Minutemen volunteers using violence against illegal aliens.

"The Mexican military doesn't exactly have a 'good government' reputation. The Border Patrol has documented more than two hundred incursions into the U.S by the Mexican military, and Texas sheriffs even apprehended Mexican government vehicles that were used to ferry drug runners across the border. By tipping off Mexico's military to the Minutemen's location, the U.S. government is asking for trouble," said Tancredo.

"Heavily-armed military officials stationed only yards from civilians are at least intimidating. I can only surmise that the Border Patrol bureaucrats' spying is meant to have a chilling effect on the Minutemen's recruitment of more volunteers," said Tancredo.

"The Minutemen haven't been accused of breaking the law. Quite the contrary-they have gone out of their way to aid law enforcement and ensure the safety of our border. The U.S. government has no grounds upon which to stifle the Minutemen's constitutional right to organize," Tancredo concluded. "I want to know the legal basis for CBP informing a foreign government of the activities of private citizens who are obeying the law."

I'm going to take a "time out" before I say anything else on the subject, or I might start questioning the paternity of certain people.

This is b*llsh*t! No wonder the GOP is looking more and more like a lame duck in '08. How can I vote for 4 more years of ineptitude? I allready feel like I wasted my previous votes (I btw totaly agree with going into Iraq) but this white house seems to ignore all other issues.

I agree. I have already expounded on how bad the Republicans in congress and the white house have become. I don't know about your respective vocations but in the world of medicine the Bush agenda has been horrible. Much less reimbursement and significantly more regulation. I don't think the Dems could be as bad. I was in favor of Iraq as long as I thought we were there to kill Muslims. I don't care for the touchy, feely attitude they have now. You can not form a democracy in that area. It seems that if you love your country, abide by the law and do what is expected, then this government is going to get you. Just try to board a plane!!!

I'm not going to lay this at any party's door. We have the CIA holdovers from the Slick Willie administration that are 99.9% anti-american or total traitors. An FBI that was and may still be totally ineffective and probably has more traitors than patroits or even honest workers. A justice department that fails to do it's sworn duty on a daily basis. A homeland security department that is a joke. 43 or 44 democratic senators that have been identified as criminal in one way or another. A total joke from Ark. being hyped as the next president. 45% of the population that care about nothing or no one other than themselves. Screw the rest of the world in the democratic motto of late. Traitors running rampart in the halls of congress and we're paying their stupidly high salaries with benefits that are available no where else on earth.
Every elected or appointed member of the government has sworn an oath to abide by the constitution. Not one of them is doing it, but most are tearing it apart on a daily basis.
Maybe we all should just join the surrender monkeys of the left wing and give the country to whatever Islamic dictator will take it. At least that way 90% of the American citizens will meet a swift death. The other 10% will cower and kiss their feet.
Then you have the antique MSM, the biggest bunch of liars to ever assemble anywhere on earth. Is the country in a mess it can't recover from? most likely.

I've always been disappointed voting Republican, but I'm an ultraconservative in Conn.

What choice is there? there is not an issue that the Reps are poor on that the Dems are not worse.

Third parties are a disaster (although as a youth I helped elect Jim Buckley to the Senate for NYS on the Conservative line). The Conservatives in NY are a perfect example. NY is all Dem now because of the rift between C's and R's. (Although the Rockerfeller/Javits R's might as well be D's).

Anyway, no where to go, must apply more pressure to the Rep's and hold my nose and vote for the common good.
