Have You Saved an Obama Today?
First there was half-brother George Obama, living in shame in a Kenyan shanty town on $12 a year, and you were able to help.
Today, Barack Obama's long lost aunt has been found living in poverty somewhere far worse than the slums of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Yes, Barack Obama's aunt Zeituni Onyango is living in public housing in South Boston:
Barack Obama has lived one version of the American Dream that has taken him to the steps of the White House. But a few miles from where the Democratic presidential candidate studied at Harvard, his Kenyan aunt and uncle, immigrants living in modest circumstances in Boston, have a contrasting American story.Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama's best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.
His "Uncle Omar" faired even worse:
A second relative believed to be the long-lost "Uncle Omar" described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a "sawed-off rifle" while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.
It's up to you to feed, clothe, and house these Obamas, America.
Because when it comes to "spreading the wealth around," Barack Obama obviously wasn't talking about his.
I think this is Queen Michelle's fault. Michelle, the $300K+ salaried quid pro quo executive, orders several lobsters for an afternoon snack while Barry's family lives in squalor? Barry's little plaything is chased off to the Martinique while Michelle wears the pants and pushes Barry around?
Crap. Are we about to elect another henpecked Casper Milquetoast? No wonder the liberal chicks and effeminate men dig Obama while the Joe the Plumber types are found so distasteful. Obama's the Sitzpinkler Candidate.
Posted by: redherkey at October 30, 2008 08:43 AMI got a feeling pants is not the only thing she straps on in that family.
The classiest thing about all this..and specifically the Aunt????...well this lil' gem:
http://www.bobkrumm.com/blog/?p=2041
"Speaking outside her home in Flaherty Way, South Boston, on Tuesday, Ms Onyango, 56, confirmed she was the “Auntie Zeituni” in Mr Obama’s memoir. She declined to answer most other questions about her relationship with the presidential contender until after the November 4 election. “I can’t talk about it, I just pray for him, that’s all,” she said, adding: “After the 4th, I can talk to anyone."
Keep stayin' classy O!.
Posted by: markm at October 30, 2008 09:24 AMYou ought to be ashamed, Mr. Confederacy. Whether he's got poor relatives has nothing to do with whether he'll make a better president. This is the same scare tactic that the GOP always closes with, we'll protect you from Willie Horton and under us you won't have to pay the welfare queens.
Posted by: Red Phantom at October 30, 2008 10:39 AMDamn, Sir:
After reading this, I had to look at the top your website to see if I was still on Jim Treacher's :-)
Posted by: Paul_In_Houston at October 30, 2008 10:40 AMRedherkey - that "snack" of Michelle's has been shown to be a hoax.
I don't like her either, but repeating false information helps no one... not even the children.
Posted by: Jeff Shultz at October 30, 2008 10:46 AMRed Phantom,
So it doesn't matter if his relatives live in abject poverty, but it matters if Joe the Plumber has a tax lien?
Nice double standard you got there.
Posted by: Richard Romano at October 30, 2008 12:50 PMWhile it would be easy for me to condemn Obama for not financially supporting family members, I won't throw the first stone on this one. I've got family members whose life situation is self-induced and self-selected; money will not cure their problems, only keep them satisfied with the level they've sought. I wouldn't send money to a drug-dealing and addicted half-brother either, regardless of which bridge he was living under. I've other family members to whom I've given thousands of dollars and no one in my family knows it; it's not their business and I'll not have money or jealousy over it between me and my loved ones. Obama's 2 big charities reported to the IRS for tax purposes have been Trinity Church and the Congressional Black Caucus. Both are racist hate groups. That tells me more about Barack Obama than whether he donated to that real "f" word, family.
Posted by: twolaneflash at October 30, 2008 02:59 PMNo, I'm not giving a dime either.
Obama's got the bucks, it's his family; let him redistribute his own wealth for a change.

What lazy people. Fat and lazy. Period. I worked full time while going to college. My mom worked fulltime raising 12 kids, never on welfare. Saved money, paid in CASH… Not credit. Wear used clothing and worked for a fricken living.. These people in the commerical are not poor. geesh… why doesn’t the mother get rid of her fake nails and walk to the store or sell her car. These people are a bunch of whinners. My parents lived through the depression and NEVER asked for a dime.
Posted by: sara at October 30, 2008 05:38 PMWow - Dorchester is only a mile or two from the Boston Globe's Morrissey Ave HQ. No wonder it was so easy to find Obama's aunt. What? They didn't find her, it was a British newspaper? Maybe the Globe should recall a couple of reporters from Wasilla and the trash cans in the alley behind Joe the Plumber's house.
Posted by: Tim at October 30, 2008 06:42 PMBob,
Is there really some way that conservatives could _actually_ help out a discarded Obama relative? Suppose that Right-of-Center blogs raised several thousand dollars to help first that poor fellow in Kenya and then the rest of the Obama clan...that not only would poke a stick in Barak's eye but it might also be the right thing to do.
I hate the government taking my money to support someone, but I gladly give it every week to support someone I know is trying.
Posted by: Quilly Mammoth at October 31, 2008 12:08 AMTwoLane, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think you understand what Bob (CY) is saying.
Basically, Barack Socialist Obama's "spread the wealth" plan would involve spreading your tax dollars and mine to give to his aunt and uncle, among others, even those whom you say you'd rather not support (and I don't disagree with not supporting folks like that).
Therein lies the hypocrisy of Barack Hypocrite Obama. He'll send your money to people who will not work, and my money, but not his own money.
By the way, and for the record, I have no problem supporting those who are unable to work. However, being disabled myself and still working for a living myself (frequently 6 days a week), I know how many opportunities exist for those who are willing to work, even if disabled. However, if you are able to get a job of some kind, and refuse to, then I don't think I "owe" you a penny.
Posted by: C-C-G at October 31, 2008 07:31 AMBaldilocks covered this pretty well a couple days ago. Basically, her take is "would you even care about these people, if you didn't have a chance to give Barry a black eye?"
I think that's a fair question.
Casey:
Given that I have signed up at work to give a portion of my paycheck directly to a charity that is dedicated to helping people like this (and work matches me at 50 cents on the dollar), I'd have to say that my answer to your question is "yes."
I guess that trolling tactic failed, Casey. I'd say better luck next time, but I really don't wish you any better luck, and hope there's not a next time.
Posted by: C-C-G at November 1, 2008 07:12 AMOh, since I answered your question, Casey, you can answer one for me.
Would you (and your buddies in the MoveOnMedia) be more interested in this story if these people if they were related to the McCain or Palin families?
To ask that question is to answer it, especially given the absurd lengths the MoveOnMedia has gone to attack Governor Palin (come on, now, insinuating that her baby isn't hers?).
The difference is, neighbor Casey, that the McCains and the Palins take care of their families, from the little girl brought to the US for a cleft palate operation that was adopted, to the teenage mother-to-be, to the baby with special needs.
And stories like those are why the left so wants to bury this one. Because it shows a stark contrast between McCain, Palin, and the Obamas.
Your trolling expedition has now resulted in more damage to your own side than to mine, Casey. I think it's time for you to retreat.
Posted by: C-C-G at November 1, 2008 07:32 AMI have no doubt that there are many people who sincerely believe that "spreading the wealth around" promotes the common good and that redistribution somehow makes for a more fair, just and equitable world. Obama is says that he is one of these people. He has famously stated "...I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
Some say that if Obama believes in redistribution, he should be helping his impoverished brother in Kenya, or his poor aunt in Boston. Maybe. But maybe Obama has already tried to help his family. Maybe Obama's family is too proud and independent to accept help. You and I don't know the situation, so let's give Obama the benefit of the doubt. And private charity isn't really the issue here. Obama is not promoting private charity...or at least that's not the thrust of his campaign message. Obama said he wants to improve the world through "redistributive change," and he plans increase taxes and fatten up the U.S. Treasury to make it happen.
So I said, fine Obama, if you can convince a majority of the voters to sign up for these risky schemes, go for it! But then things got more interesting. McCain said, "Nobody likes taxes. Let's not raise anybody's taxes."
"Well, I don't mind paying a little more," Obama responded.
WAIT A MINUTE! He said what?
"...I don't mind paying a little more."
*Wow*
Hey Obama! There's good news. If you really want to pay more, YOU CAN DO IT RIGHT NOW. The United States Treasury will accept your donation. This is no joke. If you need to know more, go to the website.
Obama, this is your chance to lead by example. Make a big deal about it, have a big fancy check-signing photo-op surrounded by smiling celebrities and politicians; heck, you could even invite that Obama Girl. You could show us how much you hate those nasty Bush tax cuts and send an amount equal to what you saved because of those cuts. With the millions you made from your book, I'm sure it would be a lot of money. And while you're at it, you could ask your supporters to send money to the U.S. Treasury instead of sending it to you for your campaign. Haven't you already gotten $600,000,000? Time to start redistributing!
Obama, put your money where your mouth is and make a financial donation to the U.S. Treasury today! You do believe in the things you say, don't you?
