Pissing Away America's Promise: Cap and Trade Passes 219-212

ON CSPAN.com (not link yet)

HOUSE PASSES ENERGY BILL, 219-212 Today

The House has approved passage of the American Clean Energy & Security Act by a vote of 219 to 212. The climate change bill, a legislative priority of Pres. Obama's, centers on a renewable electricity standard, and a cap-and-trade policy aimed at reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. The Senate is likely to take up the legislation after the July 4th recess.

Never have so few done so much to so many for so little.

Our country is being taken away from us, in a few weeks, we won't recognize it if the far-lefts have their way. Surely, there are some sensible democrats who will line up with the Republicans to fight this socialist takeover. And has anyone bothered to notice the jobless numbers? Our economy is not getting better, or at least MY "wealth" has been going down the drain for some time. Bottomed out? I doubt it.

You can forget any relief from Republicans. When McCain dissavows his warmist position there might be some possibility but he has never demonstrated such character previously. Gingrich also is a warmist. In fact the list of Republican warmists is almost an identity set with elected Republicans. Even Boehner and Shadegg shy from stating the simple fact, if they know it, that THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING! THERE IS GLOBAL COOLING! The appeal of Cap'n Trade is not in spite of its depravity, it is because of it. The good news is that while it is being sold, medaciously as a "jobs bill" (yet another unConstitutional exercise) there is exactly NO chance that it will produce anything that even Paul Begala could describe as success. Nothing succeeds like success, as they say. Conrariwise, nothing fails like failure. Barry is going down, he and his constituents are just too damn stupid. When home heating oil is five times as expensive as last winter will even the magic of Obamism hold back the tide? NO. WAY.

Mega I hope you are right. I don't think so though. There are a great many people in this country that worship the big "O" that they would/will vote/support him no matter what. Just think of Marion Barry - the mayor of Washington - he was re-elected I beleive while still in jail. Alot can change by 11/2010 - but so much damage and destruction to this great country will have been done I am afraid it could/will not be reversed. Just ponder what it would take: A conservative president, a conservative majority in the House, and a 60 vote conservative majority in the Senate. The best we can do is try to control our own little circle around us.

This is not a give in/up comment though it may seem like one. I think we fight like hell to defeat these socialists. Some day in the future it may come to violence, but now we keep up the pressure, kick out non conservatives on the local level, replace the sellouts in the House, and punish those in the Senate like Arlen.

That said, I have a question: Is this disaster Cap & Tax reversible at some point like 2012??

I have a framed copy of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in my office - I read a little of it every day - if only those guys were here now.

Native "blacks" would support Obama even if he were caught smoking crack with 90,000 dollars stuffed in his freezer while he illegally fired government watchdogs that threatened his cronies. So that is 13% of the nation that doesn't care and would like to turn into another corrupt kleptocracy.

And there is another 20% or so leftards who actively hate this country, the Constitution, and any vague semblance of capitalism. So that is around 33% right there who actively would like the USA to turn into some 3rd world kleptocracy where they believe they will control the power and steal from the rest of us.

Sad, but true. And we cannot do anything about it until we recognize the truth of the situation and ruthlessly act to rectify it.

You're still assuming there will be elections in 2010 (let alone 2012) that could dislodge the communists.
I hope you're right, but I fear that by then it will be too late.

J.T. now you understand why the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution was written.

I see a number of people sounding off about changing the government. I have not seen any plans as yet. We need action, not rhetoric. I think that all conservatives know what they desire, smaller government, less tax, hands off on business and personal issues. So who is going to get the ball rolling, be it by election or by force.

They pass this monster with no proof man is causing global warming and also knowing the fact that Earth has had about 6 ice ages during its life.

Leftist/Liberals/Progressives and present day Democrats are really strange people.

David, I guess you missed the millions around the country on Tea Party day. In atlanta we had over 20,000+ show up at the Gold Dome. It was awesome. The drive by media lied about the numbers - there were well over a million nationwide that day.

As I said earlier, you start at the lacal level and build. We have a powerful conservative force here in Gwinnette County, and across our state. Sadly, we have a lot of liberals moving here as well, so it is a constant struggle.

Sounding off is the way it starts. It is not all rhetoric. We conservatives have to put relentless pressure on our House and Senate represenatives.

Well, we HAVE been dragging our feet on renewable/sustainable energy(other than corporate and teensy consumer tax giveaways, what have we done?). Of course the Obama Fairy thinks you can just will it into being and the Hell with the consequences. HE certainly won't feel any of those consequences -- but don't be surprised to see him get wealthy four years from now when he's "consulting" for companies feeding at this trough.

Cap&Trade is a complete rip-off, but it makes some people feel all warm and fuzzy, so destroying the economy is worth it, isn't it? /sarcasm And again, four years from now it'll be a major source of income for Obama (mark my words).

Damn straight boys. Regime change begins at home. An even better solution would be to simply recognize the right to secede peaceably from the union, combined with freedom of movement between the borders of these new nations so that no one has to live in a state/new nation against their will. California (my home) is the 8th largest economy in the world just by itself, and only gets 80 cents back for every dollar it pays in taxes to Washington. Time this experiment called the USA was brought to an end

Posted by: JB at June 28, 2009 07:37 PM

JB,
Now that is what I am talking about when I say action is needed. Not the protesting and other activities that have been tried over the last several years. It is clear that there is a large portion of people in the US that is unhappy with the other large portion. I would estimate at leat 30% liberals against 30% conservatives with only 30% actually determining the course of this country and they make their decisions on how well someone gives a speech or how good they look. I for one feel that the War of Northern Agression was a clear mistake and that the South at least should be allowed to go its own way as they did in 1860. The rest can, well don't want to get carried away. We need action on this, not talk!!

When the country finaly goes bankrupt from these idiots that we elect to manage our business. Then the people will rise up in a rush of anger and disbelief. I pity the ones in office at the time. Liberals and conservatives will be pointing fingers at each other blaming each other for the colapse. Civil war could then erupt. The great concern would be the enemies of the country, which are many after so much medeling in others affairs. We could easily be attacked while we are fighting each other. This could end up being one very messy affair. What's amazing is how everyone thinks they are in the right.

Well if you're in the district or state of one of the Republicans who voted for this travesty I think its important that their constituents make it clear that this will be their last term.

Take a page from Acorn and show up at their offices and place of residence. Let them know you're pissed and that they need to keep their butts in line for the remainder of their term.
