It seems your quaint and artificial veneer of civility is falling away, as adults trained to be spoiled children by your culture seem intent on burning their neighborhoods—and just about anyone else's—to the ground. It seems that they are a bit put-out because they aren't getting their "fair turn" sucking on the government teat.
At least that is what your fellow socialists claim.
Tell me... how is that working out for you?
Specifically, I mean the part where these leeches rip apart and destroy your homes and livelihood, as your prim little government tells you to stand aside and not dare hurt the poor dears.
Are you still liking the wussification of your nation, and the acceptance of violence, now that it is your world on fire?
Despite the best efforts of our current president and his criminal Attorney General, we don't do that here.
We have a response for looters. From our perspective it's called "outbound fire."
The firearm I am holding in the photo above is just one of many that I have access to; I own several very much like it, and they all fire very real, very deadly bullets. Just before posing for this photo, I had just used this very rifle to repeatedly shoot a 6" target at 150 yards (about 137 meters, a bit longer than a football pitch) with very little effort.
Why? It's quite simple.
Our Creator endowed me with certain unalienable rights—stop me if you've heard this—and also the responsibility to defend the life he gave me from oppressors, tyrants, and thugs.
That right extends to defending the lives of my family, and our home. No one has the right to take away my home or threaten my family, and I have the God-given responsibility to ensure their safety and survival by any means necessary.
We're quite adamant about that, and have taken up arms against entire governments on more than one occasion to ensure our liberties, and will likely do so again at some point.
I'm sure you find our ideals all very quaint as you flee your home for a less combustible location, but perhaps you can reflect upon the idea at a later time. Giving up the rights given to you by your Maker wasn't an intelligent decision, and is perhaps one you may want to revisit.
He expects you to defend the life he gave you, not just the body you inhabit.
Think about that, once you've put out the fires.
The problem is that the English can't even defend themselves with a butter knife. Seriously. I have seen accounts of people fighting back against criminals and getting more time than the bad guy.

Are you f$^&ing kidding me? I'm having serious trouble hitting an immobile squirrel at 30 yards (he's picking our pecans) with a .22. 150 yards?!?! Holy cow.

One day I'll get some formal training, and I'll feel a lot more confident about longer shots.

Having follwed CY's posts for a number of years, I'm betting that he gets more practice than anybody not on active military duty.

Knowing when you're making mistakes and correcting for them, knowing what things like sights are for and adjusting when those things lead you astray. It's not a matter of practicing harder, it's a matter of practicing smarter.
Then again, there are just those with a dead eye aim who can plug a gnat at one hundred yards, and leave the flea next to it untouched.

Men are doing as you suggest and standing together to protect neighborhoods. in the absence of guns, they are resorting to blunt instruments. Just like on the Simpsons episode where Lisa wishes for global disarmament, and then space aliens invade. The technology of putting nails in a 2x4 comes back quickly.

Posted by: Capt45 at August 9, 2011 07:03 PMTo be fair the police in London and some of the other big cities have a terrible reputation which then is made worse by the entitlement ethos the courts have created due to early release, etc. Many of these areas the suffered the worst damage were initially regarded as hands off and the police stood by. One of my online FB friends in England said that the police needed a bit more of the Texas Rangers in them in that one bobby, unarmed at that, would wade into a crowd with just his presence and a billy club or sap if needed and beat the snot out of the ring leaders. The famous quote of "One riot, one Ranger," has been missing from the Metroplitan police for at least two decades.

I also heard the British PM talking this morning. He said police would get more power to control things and that "nothing was off the table". But no mention was made of enabling citizens to protect themselves with privately owned firearms. No need to get crazy.

I am telling all my friends to go get a gun, and helping the ladies I know with the necessary training to feel comfortable with their chosen weapons.
