These Guys Won?

Look closely at the following photograph currently on the Fox News home page, showing Libyan rebel fighters.

Now look even more closely at the dufus on the right.

I've never been in the military (or even played a soldier on television), but even I know that a rocket-propelled grenade loaded in the ass-end of a launcher isn't a threat to anyone.

Seriously... these guys beat Qaddafi?

On the other hand, it seems like a safer way to carry a rocket and launcher while not worrying about accidentally firing it. Considering the training level of most Mideast soldiers, that's possibly a good idea.

Some of the photos that come out of the third-tier militaries just make you go "er..."

After we got OBL, the Pakistani military put a guard around the place. You'd think they'd use at least some "good" troops, right? One of the guards, in a nice sharp uniform, was walking around the place with the rifle slung across his chest at a sort-of-ready position - and his left hand firmly on the front end of the barrel.

Just brings back memories of the scene from the old Arnold movie Commando, when the girl shoots the M202 backwards. I don't know, call me crazy, but I'm sure there are several different ways to carry a rocket safely and more readily than stuffing it in the tube backwards.

Many of the first videos showed them firing in the air though g-daffy had no air craft just wasting ammo. Now they are posing standing in the open firing and you never see what they are supposedly firing at.Again, just wasting ammo.

I strongly suspect that SOCOM beat him rather than them. Illegally, but done.

This administration do something illegal?

I'm guessing that's the flagging for the safety pin on the tip of the warhead as well.

"These Guys Won?"

Consider who they were facing.

True that. Just consider Egypt's own version of the 6 Day War, where Egyptian border forces put paid to Libya's vaunted invasion force.

Safe carry position. The launcher has a sling, the round does not. A pretty good technique given the level of training of the user. I suspect that gunner never fired his weapon at anything smaller than a building.

Could be jpeg artifacts, but it looks to me like there's a definite halo around the guy, which leads me to believe he was pasted into the image from somewhere else, iow it's a fake.

And no, these guys didn't beat anyone. NATO, with the help of Al Qaeda, did the job and now we're going to see the end result which is an Islamic fundamentalist terror state the likes the world has not seen since 1490 or so when they were kicked out of Europe (the celebration of which led to Columbus getting his funding to discover the western passage to India and thus the discovery of the Americas).
